Sonographer
Noorayen Alware is a Specialist Senior Sonographer with over a decade of advanced ultrasound expertise and a long-standing career in medical imaging. She works with patients across the full spectrum of obstetric and gynaecological care, delivering expert diagnostic imaging with precision, professionalism and a calm, reassuring approach.
Originally trained in Diagnostic Radiography at Evelyn Hone College in Zambia, Noorayen qualified in 1993 and developed extensive experience across a wide range of imaging modalities, including CT scanning, interventional radiography and Accident and Emergency radiography. She later pursued specialist training in Medical Ultrasound, completing her Postgraduate Diploma at City University of London in 2015.
Noorayen has held senior clinical and leadership roles within the NHS, most notably as Lead Sonographer at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, where she led obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound services. Alongside her clinical responsibilities, she has supervised and trained midwives, radiographers and doctors, contributing to the development of high clinical standards and best practice in ultrasound care.
She is accredited by the Fetal Medicine Foundation to perform fetal Nuchal Translucency screening for chromosomal conditions including Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome and Patau syndrome. Her clinical practice includes comprehensive obstetric ultrasound services, including early pregnancy dating, anomaly and fetal growth and wellbeing scans, fetal Doppler studies, and 3D/4D imaging.
In gynaecology ultrasound, Noorayen has extensive experience caring for women across all stages of life, with particular professional interests in endometriosis assessment and menopause awareness. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS), the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG), and the Society of Radiographers Ultrasound Advisory Group.
She speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi.
